app reviews
this is a list of some apps that I use or have used, and my thhoughts on them
vscode 🤩
might not be as techy as neovim or emacs but still a phenomenal ide that is exceptionally intuitive and thorough
arc 🥵
still new but already has tons of great features like easy split screen manipulation, in-depth customization, integration with websites like gmail and google calendar, spaces, and arc max
obsidian 🗿
a great offline note taking system that is customizable, fast, and intuitive (WONDERFUL COMMUNITY PLUGINS LIKE LATEX SUITE AND OMNISEARCH)
spotify 😎
super chill music app, sometimes annoying because cant use files etc but overall solid
iterm 😍
super customizable terminal app (best feature: cmd-d and cmd-shift-d to make split panels)
karabiner-elements 🔥
super customizable macos keyboard shortcut system that is super easy to use (ai is great at writing the scripts)
rectangle ▬▬
great basic window manager (all i know is full screen, split left, and split right and that covers 99% of my use cases)
bitwarden 💂
pretty good pw manager, only thing is on mobile sometimes it doesnt detect when i need to input a password (maybe its just ios messing with me to get me to switch to its manager though). everything on macos is pretty good
notes (mac default) 📝
insanely underrated notes app; has good shortcuts for everything; free syncing; folders; images; search; linking to notes; the only thing i need is a strikethrough command
reminders (mac default) ⭐️
pretty good, nice that it syncs with phone
cursor 🖱️
sometimes clunky but still works
windsurf 💨🌊🏄
imo better than cursor because you dont have to keep providing context, also maybe placebo or recency bias but the ai seems better
